Run the world travelogue–Day 17, morning

June 5, 2007 · No Comments

Tuesday, June 5. Mile 471.4833 of 6802.6764. 6331.1931 miles to go.

I ran another tough four miles today. I hope this whole weird fatigue thing passes soon. Preferably before my seven miler tomorrow. I also hope I don’t have to make any pitstops tomorrow. Today I had to use a construction site port-a-potty. Not fun. The run started out well. I actually got an early start this morning and was able to watch the sunrise. I saw a deer just standing in the middle of one of the side roads. Made me wish there were some convenient way to bring my camera on these runs. At any rate, I completed the four miles in exactly 1:00:00. I did not run the whole way, but at least I managed to make it in exactly (what are the odds?) my goal time. Tomorrow–seven miles. I’m so scared.

Sixty minutes of exercise puts me just south of Vancleave, MS, which is apparently part of the Pascagoula metropolitan area. Louisiana went much faster than Texas. I’m, in general, progressing much faster now that I’m home and getting back in an exercise groove. My goal is to spend at least two hours each day exercising. I’m not there yet, but we’ll see. I think it’s doable.

Today’s fun fact about Abkhazia:
Abkhazia is bordered to the east by Svanetia. I had no idea there was such a place. In fact my knowledge of this whole region is really sketchy. I guess maybe I can learn a bit about it, one fact a day, for the next 4 or 5 months until I finish this leg of my goal.
